    • It's the trying that heals youPerfect days lack perfection when life leaves its oppressing thumbprint. We can spin out of control in a nano second and all that we have come to know is left in shambles in the whirlwind.Margaret Jacobsen knows only too well of the ridges and swirls of that thumbprint. With a freshly earned MBA and a handsome fiance in tow, Margaret reaches new heights. But those starlit heights have taken her on a flight with tragic consequences. Chip wanted the perfect setting hi [...]

    • How to Walk Away is Katherine Center’s best book yet. She has crafted a beautiful, heartbreaking, and thoroughly romantic novel that is sure to be a hit with everyone who reads it. Soon after the book opens, Margaret Jacobsen’s world changes in an instant, and she must learn to forge ahead while trying to move on from the past. Margaret is tougher than she thinks and with the help of her sister and her physical therapist Ian, she slowly begins to create a new path for herself while learning [...]

    • How to Walk Away is a powerful, poignant, heartfelt story of one woman's tumultuous journey from being on the cusp of a perfect life to losing it all in a heartbeat to clawing and scratching her way out of the depths of despair while desperately searching for the courage, determination, and motivation to live again - whatever that might mean for her. I started this book late one afternoon and finished it before midnight in one sitting. From cover to cover, I remained ensnared in the web of a sto [...]

    • Book received through giveaway. Totally engrossing read about a woman in a small plane accident where she is paralyzed with some 2nd and 3rd degree burns and the pilot (her new fiance) walks away totally unharmed. The story is of her trials for recovery, a bit of family drama and a little romance. Excellent read.

    • I received an advanced review copy of this book. All opinions are my own. To say I loved this book is an understatement. It's everything you could want in a book and more. It's intense and emotional. You will be cheering for Margaret from the beginning up until the very end. If you haven't discovered Katherine Center's book yet my advice is that you run to pre order this book so that it's waiting for you on release day and then do what I did which is to download all her previous books. You will [...]

    • I almost felt guilty for loving this book as much as I did, for laughing out loud throughout. After all, this book is about a woman whose life is tragically changed beyond repair. How could I laugh at someone in a wheelchair? But laugh I did. This story is just wonderful, filled with such dark humor and hope. Very well written with characters that were perfection.

    • A plane crash has left Margaret with a life she doesn't recognize. Is Chip her fiancé or isn't he? What exactly is her prognosis? Why does her mother insist on redecorating her hospital room? Why does everyone insist on framing this in how it affects them rather than her?I think this last question is the most interesting to me in the novel - when you're a good girl, when you have always done what is expected, then there is this ability for people to expect that you'll always defer, to be nice, [...]

    • I loved Happiness for Beginners and was excited to read this book. It definitely didn't disappoint. The book had a lot of funny parts for being about such a sad subject.Margaret had a picture perfect life with a new dream job and a fiance. Then it came all crashing down around her, literally. Waking up in the hospital, Margaret's whole life had changed. Her overbearing mother wants her to be fixed, Chip loves the old Margaret and Margaret's sister, Kitty, shows up back into her life after being [...]

    • Katherine Center's books have never disappointed me and this book was no exception. I am a long time fan and follower of her work, so the moment I hear she has a new piece in the works I get excited. I love all her books but this one was exceptional and its clear an incredible amount of detail and research that went into this story. I was blown away by all the preciseness her medical terminology and how even on a subject I know little about- I could completely understand. The story follows Marga [...]

    • Wow! I don't know how to describe reading How to Walk Away by Katherine Center without sounding like a major fangirl. I picked it up in the afternoon thinking I could just read a chapter or two and get on with my day never happened. The story of Margaret Jacobsen, a recent business school grad on the fast track to the perfect life with a dream job and a boyfriend who's going to propose, as she navigates life after a horrific tragedy. Center's books always seem fluffy and light on the surface, bu [...]

    • I think I read the first chapter of this book with one eye closed. Sort of. I mean, you know what's coming, and you can't stand the thought. Then it happens, but that's all setting the scene. The story is really about the aftermath. Despite a horrific situation, Maggie's unique voice kept me laughing and rooting for her through the entire story. There were many interesting characters in the book. The first night, I read 124 pages and didn't want to go to bed. The author is adept at writing emoti [...]

    • Besides a stunning cover, this is a fantastic story. Wow. I don't know where to begin. Yes, this is a sweet touching love story about a woman and a man but it is also so much more. There is a story about a daughter and family and all the messiness that is involved in being a family. But even deeper than the stories about the characters, there is so much wisdom in this book. The author has a way of writing a rich and eloquent story but there are nuggets of truth and wisdom given. Just a few of th [...]

    • Best book of 2018 so far.---Have you ever read a book where you couldn't turn the pages quickly enough to get to the end and then when you did, you thought--I'm going to have to read it over again, just because? To me, How to Walk Away embodies practically everything I would want in a book: reality, charm, tears, humor, tolerance, forgiveness, fairytale, love, and most of all, heart. For I could feel the heart of this novel pumping throughout every word on every pagead more: saschadarlington/20 [...]

    • Heart breaking and uplifting, How to Walk Away drew me in from the very first page. The characters are complex, real, and lovably quirky and the plot masterfully crafted. The family dynamics take this book over the top and make it one that I will remember for a long time. This is the first book I've read by Katherine Center, and I am eager to read more by her.I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.

    • This reminds me of Me Before You. A well-researched charming tale about second chances. Second chances from a terrible accident, between mothers and daughters, between sisters, and between spouses. This is a feel good story about love and struggling and courage. Copy provided by the Publisher and NetGalley

    • I was so happy when the publisher sent me a copy of this book! Margaret is a young woman that survives a plane crash, leaving her with spinal cord injuries and third degree burns. After losing her job, fiancé and the ability to walk, the journey to rebuild her life is captivating, she will make new discoveries and family secrets, and finally she will find love.My favorite quotes: “You have to live the life you have. You have to find inspiration in the struggle, and pull joy out of the hardshi [...]

    • *4.5* Recently, I binge-read several of St. Martin's Press's Spring 2018 titles. Each brought something worthwhile to the table. Sally Hepworth's The Family Next Door and Jessica Strawser's Not That I Could Tell provided suspenseful, intricate mysteries as well as questioned just how well one can know their neighbors. Corrine Sullivan's Indecent was raw and gritty look at how an all-consuming love can make or break you. And now for Katherine Center's How to Walk Away. It's by far the most emotio [...]

    • I received a free copy of this book through the GoodReads First Reads giveaways. I absolutely loved How to Walk Away by Katherine Center. I enjoyed the storyline and all of the characters. In a nutshell, the main character, Margaret, is in a plane crash and must find a way to adjust her life due to her injuries. Margaret must learn to separate her prior life vs. her new life. In Margaret’s prior life she was perfect in her eyes and her family’s eyes, but as she begins to accept her new life, [...]

    • Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. You know how you sometimes purchase books by the authors you know are going to be good without even reading the back cover? This was one of them – and when I started reading it I was like Oh Em Ghee, where did this come from? About 7-8 years ago, our good friends’ son woke up paralyzed from the waist down and reading this was remembering all that he and they had to endure – not on [...]

    • I don't know what took me so long to read this book because when I finally did get down to it today, I couldn't part with it, not even to take lunch! It's a chronicle of Margaret's life. One minute she's with Chip, he's flying and proposing to her, the next they're crashing and she wakes up with third degree burns and with time learns that she's paralyzed. She goes from getting the dream job and man to never being able to walk, and learning that he's cheated on her with his ex. I loved the fact [...]

    • How To Walk Away was nothing less then wonderful. I loved every second of the story. There is one thing wrong with romance novels and that is we often leave out the whole other large parts of your life, like the relationship between you and your parents, you and your siblings and the family dynamic. Centers does not do that in this novel. Maggie is so much more than some one to pity, and hope she gets her love story. Centers captures the hard relationships in families so well. I loved that she d [...]

    • I was able to read How to Walk Away by Katherine Center for free from Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book is one of those books where you can related to the heroine. When you stop reading you still think about what will happen next. As you read you will be able to see how Margaret and Ian's relationship develops. You will not be disappointed. Everyone should read this book and great read for book clubs.

    • Katherine Center's books are always a treat! Her dialogue is sparking and often laugh out loud funny. How to Walk Away opens with a more painful premise than her other books, but works its magic with the same arc of bravery and resilience, and a deliciously slow-burn love story. I love Katherine's supporting characters. She takes an honest, wry, and loving look at sisters, parents, and marriages. Loved this book! And the gorgeous cover, as other reviewers have noted.

    • If you are tired of the regular boy-meets-girl romances, then this one is for you! Funny, magical, inspirational, and so moving, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the family dynamics, Margaret’s new start after a freak accident that nearly destroyed her life, and of course, the tall and handsome hero with a big heart. The writing was so perfect that I could picture the characters clearly in my mind. I’m praying someone will make a movie on this book. Fingers crossed! Till then, Katherine Cen [...]

    • Free read, early copy from netgalley, thank you!Loved this one, it is inspiring and uplifting. A young woman survives a small plane crash but suffers a spinal cord injury and third degree burns. In one moment, her perfect life is derailed: fiancee, dream job, condo, everything has changed. But her journey to rebuild her life is captivating, yes there is suffering and depression, but there is also a budding possible romance, healing of some damaged family relationships, and finding a new life's p [...]

    • Loved this book! I received an advance copy and highly recommend. The thoughts and emotions experienced by Maggie were so realistically written I felt I was in the storyline myself. I will definitely look for other books by this author.

    • *I received this book for free in a giveaway. I loved this book! It is so much more then a love story. You will be laughing even with all the heartbreak. This book has it all!
