    • PhilipJames

Librarian Note There is than one author in the GoodReads database with this name See this thread for information.I m a ghost writer of mostly non fiction travel, technical and trivial with a passion for the lyricism of American Crime fiction and the liberty of pulp in general I write mainly to pollute the world with just a fraction of the sort of thing that I like to read, because there s never enough Hammett, Himes or Chandler.

    • The story is a fast-paced genre-mixer presenting a hard-boiled mystery in the style of 1940s noir but with characters, twists and tension that can only occur in a Bay area struggling to sustain the remains of civilization. The result is a world-building exercise that depicts a thorough and convincing city of high-density, multi-purpose buildings, Frankenstein cars and an economy based on dark entertainments and goods retrieved from the suburbs by daredevil privateers.Author Philip James makes no [...]

    • I'm hiding this review of this book because I wrote them both. I hope others like this story and its characters as I do.

    • Deceased and residing in Oakland Philip JamesAn ex cop is on two new cases in San Francisco except it's 25 years after the zombies arrived and there is a wall around the decaying city keeping the living residents safe from the undead outside. A brilliant tale crossing both genres of zombies and detective thriller. Well written and a page turner.
